White Light Smile Teeth Whitener – Worth It?
White Light Smile is a teeth whitening device that promises to give a beautiful bright smile you deserve without requiring a costly procedure or painfully-invasive protocols.
Likely we had the same questions you did – read our White Light Smile review to find out if it actually works and whether or not it is the ‘future of teeth whitening devices'?
What Is WhiteLightSmile?
The White Light Smile Teeth Whitener is a dental-office grade device that illuminates with a brilliant blue LED light technology (and even heats up) along with their specially formulated 35% carbamide peroxide gel.
As advertised, it's shown to utilize all of these features together better than Colgate, Crest, AuraGlow and Listerine with no unpleasant taste or sensitivity to your teeth.
But can it really give you a brighter smile within days of using the power of blue LED light, heat and teeth whitening gel?
The White Light Smile home teeth whitening system is a small, easy to use handheld device (which one comment said the White Light Smile was FDA Approved – still trying to verify this but may take some time) with a curved plastic edge on one side that fits into your mouth as a simple teeth whitening tool. Inside that plastic edge you’ll see lights. You place a gel tray in your mouth then hold these lights against your teeth and clamp down while they go to work whitening your teeth.
In a promotional video advertising the device, people are seen holding White Light Smile in their teeth while driving, sitting on the couch watching TV, and performing other tasks. It kind of looks like a soother (or a grown up pacifier) and will stay in your mouth as long as you clamp down with your teeth.
By using White Light Smile regularly, you can get a brighter smile without the need “for expensive or painful procedures”, explains the manufacturer of the device.
We all know and agree teeth are usually the first thing you see on someone, straight or not, white or not, what this really comes down to is risk vs reward – and having a great level of confidence about your whiter smile – but let’s take a closer look at how and if it works.
How Does White Light Smile Work?
White Light Smile calls itself “the future of teeth whitening”. The small, portable device can be taken anywhere and used with zero discomfort to give you a healthy, durable, and strong smile.
It even claims that it is “FDA approved” to whiten your teeth.
If you’re sick of seeing yellow or stained teeth in the mirror every morning, then the makers of White Light Smile recommend using their device to brighten your smile. In fact, they even claim it “removes all stains” and gives you “results within minutes” with steady use.
Better yet, they also share that their device is beloved by “dentists, orthodontists, and celebrities all over the world”.
That all sounds good – but what we wanted to know is how this LED teeth whitener works and is it safe to keep using assuming it actually does brighten your teeth and smile…
While the White Light Smile makers of their flagship teeth whitening products never actually mention or list any dentists, orthodontists, or celebrities by name who recommend or use the product (some might think that is a red flag but doesn't answer the main question of how/if it works).
The official website for the White Light Smile never explains in-depth how it works to achieve the pearly white teeth look or what the heated-blue LED light technology actually does to transform your smile. They simply throw out phrases like “stay comfortable” and “durable and strong” and expect you to take these claims at face value – not the be harsh, but we wanted more here to get a proper assessment of healthy risk vs reward.
The good news is these teeth whitening products, devices and systems are not new. You can find very cheap and unreliable ones on Amazon where they’re priced between $4 and $14. That is where we are wondering how the White Light Smile dental-grade structure and teeth whitening gel set themselves apart.
Basically, these teeth whitening light products use a blue-light activated gel of 35% Hybrid Carbamide Peroxide solution. You place that gel inside a teeth mold, and then clamp down on the teeth mold. Then, you place the light-emitting device against your lips and hold it while the light goes to work.
The blue light is created by LEDs. It reacts with the gel to whiten and strengthen your teeth by rapidly removing surface stains and embedded discoloration. Ultimately, carbamide peroxide and similar solutions can often be found in other teeth whitening products. However, there’s no information or studies posted online that White Light Smile can work as advertised (along with its competitors).
White Light Smile Pricing
This is where we say put your money where your mouth is – is the White Light Smile the best teeth whitener available at the following prices?
You can only exclusively order it online through WhiteLightSmile.com and it is not available through any other retailer.
- 1 Unit: $69
- 2 Units: $119
- 3 Units: $149
- 4 Units: $19
- 5 Units: $195
- 10 Units: $350

This comes back to risk vs reward – the blue light LED technology on your teeth seems to be a relatively safe practice within reason and one would venture to say worth the whiter teeth and brighter smile for a few dollars in exchange (they say 1 WhiteLightSmile teeth whitener can be used for unlimited treatments so no need to buy multiple unless as a gift to family or friend).

Should You Use White Light Smile to Whiten your Teeth?
There have been an increasingly high number of teeth whitening systems, kits, pens, gels, and devices to enter the marketplace as technology and knowledge merge.
The question that we all wanted to know and wondered about is how does White Light Smile stack up against the competition and are they the best bang for your buck when it comes to whitening your teeth and brightening your smile? While the proof will be in the pudding per individual user, what we do like about what we reviewed is that they are not a simple rebranded version of teeth whitening kits and systems you can find on Amazon for $4-$14.
Out of all of the teeth whiteners and kit systems we have discovered to date, White Light Smile does put themselves into a category of their own being recommended by dentists, orthodontists, or celebrities. While the evidence may be minimal as of right now, we do know that 35% Carbamide peroxide is a legitimate teeth whitening gel found in certain products and can have the desired beneficial effect of lightening and brightening your teeth with consistent use. We will say however that it is unclear whether or not the safety and long term use of LED lights on your teeth can do.
However, when considering these teeth whitening products are not new – and White Light Smile has all of the right features and characteristics of many of its competitors, we do feel like giving it a shot (after all it is your trademarked smile) is in your best interest if you can afford to test and try it out for yourself.
