ProCam 4k Review – Waterproof Ultra HD Action Camera & Smartphone App?

ProCam 4K is a GoPro-like video camera that promises to give you professional-quality results. Read our ProCam 4K review to find out if it’s the right choice for you.

What Is ProCam 4K?

ProCam 4K describes itself as “the affordable action cam solution”. Do you like the idea of GoPro and similar cameras – but can’t afford the high prices? ProCam 4K may be the right choice for you.

ProCam 4K is advertised at a price of $20 “plus shipping”. However, if you read the fine print, you’ll find that the $20 fee only covers a “14 day trial offer”.

If you don’t return the camera within that window, your credit card will be charged the full amount – which is either $120 or $150, depending on whether you want to pay upfront.

Similar GoPro cameras – like the Hero 4 – are priced at $400 and up, so the ProCam 4K is considerably cheaper than the competition.

Your purchase comes with a 25 piece accessory kit that lets you attach the ProCam 4K to your bike, car, and other things. The makers of the ProCam 4K compare their camera with the GoPro Hero 4.

Some of the advantages over the GoPro Hero 4 include the built-in LCD display (something the Hero 4 doesn’t have). Other than that, the two cameras appear to have very similar features.

It’s worth pointing out that the newest GoPro, the Hero 5, does have a 2-inch LCD display. That fact isn’t mentioned on the ProCam 4K website.

ProCam 4K Features

The ProCam 4K comes with all of the following features:

  • Ultra 4K HD video
  • Waterproof to 100 feet
  • Super smooth slow motion
  • Time lapse mode
  • Night mode
  • Professional audio
  • 12MP sensor
  • 2 inch built-in LCD screen
  • USB connectivity
  • Exposure value compensation (EV COMP)
  • Wi-Fi enabled
  • microSD card support
  • Super wide angle lens

The company claims that the camera includes everything you need to capture crystal-clear quality video and audio.

There are mounts and sticks for all different activities. In the company’s comparison chart, they stack up the ProCam 4K against the Hero 4.

The two cameras have all of the same features, with the exception of the 2 inch built-in LCD display. That’s something the Hero 4 doesn’t have. That’s why the makers of the ProCam 4K claim that it has “all the features without the price tag”.

ProCam 4K Pricing

The pricing section for the ProCam 4K can get a little confusing. The company advertises one price upfront, then adds a big shipping fee onto that price while also charging your credit card months into the future.

Here’s how the complete pricing works out:

  • 1 Camera: $149.95 USD

That price includes the $19.99 initial charge, plus a $9.99 shipping fee, plus three additional payments of $39.99, billed to your credit card every 30 days.

If you return the camera within the 14 day “trial” period, you’ll still pay the $29.98 fee ($19.99 plus $9.99 shipping). However, you won’t be charged the three additional payments.

The company does have a 30 day return policy, although you’ll need to pay for your own return shipping, and you won’t receive a refund on the $9.99 shipping fee.

You can actually pay one payment of $119.97 today and get free shipping on your entire order and avoid the trial fee. So in reality, the price looks like this:

  • 1 Camera: $119.97

The sales page for ProCam 4K makes it very clear what you’re paying for, and how much it costs. It’s very transparent – even if the initial sales page is a little confusing.

ProCam Creators

The ProCam 4K is made by a company named InvenTel. The company has been a major player in the As Seen On TV space for years.

The company claims to be a vertically integrated company with all services in-house, letting it directly control every aspect of product development, including sourcing, commercial production, editing, graphic design, packaging, media, sales, and fulfillment.

Today, you can find InvenTel products available online, through infomercials, and in normal retail outlets: they’re found at dollar stores across America, as well as conventional retailers like Target, Walmart, RiteAid, and Kroger.

InvenTel’s best-known products include its 20 Minute Dental White teeth whitening, its Flex Desk, the Whirly Ball, and the HD Mirror Cam, among many others.

That company is based at the following address:

300 Round Hill Drive Ste. 1
Rockaway, NJ 07866

You can contact the company by phone at 323-375-1042 or by email at [email protected]. That will get you in touch with the company’s customer service line.

ProCam 4K Summary

The ProCam 4K makes big promises about its quality. The company claims to offer 4K video recording through a 12MP sensor.

The camera also comes equipped with many of the same features you see on the GoPro Hero 3, including Wi-Fi connectivity, waterproofing, time lapse mode, night mode, and microSD storage.

The ProCam 4K claims to offer all of these features while maintaining a lower price point than the GoPro Hero 3.

It’s true: the ProCam 4K is significantly cheaper than the GoPro Hero 3 and other similar cameras. On Amazon, the GoPro Hero 3 is currently priced at $430. The ProCam 4K is priced at $120. That’s a big difference.

The main drawback is that you’re not getting a high level of build quality. The official ProCam 4K website has no information about the tech specs used in the camera. There’s no information about its durability, or how large the battery is.

These are important things you want to know before you buy any tech product.

Ultimately, 4K cameras are cheaper than ever before. You can take advantage of that fact to enjoy 4K quality at a reasonable price with the ProCam 4K. However, don’t expect a GoPro-level of quality, durability, or craftsmanship.

You may also want to wait for more reviews to appear online before you buy – since the ProCam 4K is a brand new product, there are virtually no customer reviews available online at this point in time.
