Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw Review

The Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw is a recently-released water filter that lets you suck water through the straw, filtering it along the way. Here’s our review.

What is the Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw?

The Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw is a survival-oriented water filtration system designed to help you filter water in tough situations. The straw uses a hollow-fiber UF membrane and antibacterial activated carbon filter to cleanse harmful contaminants from your water, making it safe to drink.

The product is marketed towards survivalists, campers, and anyone else who may need to drink water from the environment. This new tactical tool also complements their XT808 Flashlight and TL900 headlamp products.

Using the Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw, you can remove 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and parasites (including dangerous parasites like e-coli, campylobacter, shigella, vibrio cholera, and salmonella.

The device itself requires no electrical power. You literally just stick the bottom of the straw in contaminated water and start sucking.

How Does the Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw Work?

The straw comes in a 9 inch long, 1 inch diameter package. It requires no electrical power, batteries, or replacement parts (you can’t buy a replacement filter; the manufacturer just wants you to buy a new straw when your current filter runs out). Each filter lasts for “up to 1000 liters”, which Primitive Survivors claims is equivalent to one year of drinking water.

You place the bottom of the straw in your contaminated water supply and then suck in through the device just like a normal straw. Primitive Survivors encourages you to put it in “any water source”, including streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and more.

As you suck the water through the straw, your suction forces the water to pass through multiple filters, removing contaminants along the way. There are two main filters, including:

-Hollow fiber UF membrane (UF stands for ultrafiltration, which is a type of membrane filter where hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semipermeable membrane, which then separates substances from the water)

-Antibacterial activated carbon filter

According to the official sales page for Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw, you can even drink “straight from Flint, Michigan’s water supply [and not] die of lead poisoning!”

The entire straw is packaged in a durable frame designed to survive camping and outdoor adventures. That frame is also BPA-free. It appears to be made from plastic, although Primitive Survivors doesn’t explain the material used.

Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw Pricing

The Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw claims to be normally priced at $224.45. In reality, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case. We couldn’t find any evidence the straw was priced anywhere close to that amount (especially considering all similar straws on the market are priced under $40 or $50).

With that in mind, here’s how pricing for Primitive Survivors Filtration Straw breaks down:

  • 1 Straw: $39.97
  • 2 Straws: $75.94
  • 3 Straws: $89.91
  • 4 Straws: $119.88
  • 5 Straws: $149.85
  • 10 Straws: $269.70
  • 15 Straws: $404.55
  • 20 Straws: $499.40

When you buy 1 straw, you’re paying $39.97 per unit. When you buy 20 straws, that price drops down to $24.97 per unit.

The straw is only available to purchase from the Primitive Survivors website, where you can pay using any major credit card. All prices listed above include shipping.

Should You Use the Primitive Survivors Drinking Straw to Drink Clean Water?

The Primitive Survivors Drinking Straw appears to be a cut above the rest compared to the virtually identical to filtration straws you can find on Amazon for around $25 or $30. While most are a basic filtration device that uses two filters to cleanse impurities from your water, theirs has a few other features worth adding and having in dire needs. The straws appear to work as advertised to clean your water – and when push comes to shove, and you are in need of this in your outdoor ventures, a slightly higher price point compared to other similiar devices will likely prove itself to be worth it.

Upon first review, many might get the assumption that Primitive Survivors engages in unscrupulous marketing practices by fabricating testimonials and evidence – but we were happy to find thorough details and guides regarding their coveted water drinking straw.

The only hitch and catch those interested in the Primitive Survivors clean drinking water straw might have is that is 75% off the normal price. They claim the straw is normally priced at $220+, which would make it the world’s most expensive plastic drinking straw. But with all of its features and benefits, and given what it can actually give you should you absolutely need it, it is a small price to pay if you need suitable drinking water.
