What Is INKvestment?

INKvestment is a lineup of budget-friendly printers created by Brother. There are two printers in the lineup, including the MFC-J985DW and the MFC-J985DW XL.

The printers have made headlines online in recent weeks by solving one of the biggest problems in the printer industry: the need for frequent refills and the cost of ink.

True to its name, INKvestment promises to present you with an “investment” where you pay more for the printer upfront, but get significantly more long-term value. The printers start at $199 ($299 for the XL version, which prints more pages).

Let’s take a closer look at the tech specs and features on both INKvestment printers.

INKvestment Tech Specs

The MFC-J985DW and J985DW XL both come with the following features:

The main difference between the two printers is that one comes with 4 INKvestment cartridges, while the other comes with 12 INKvestment cartridges.

These cartridges use a special technology where you insert four cartridges at one time. One is a black cartridge while the other three are multi-color cartridges.

In any case, these cartridges promise to help you print for less than one cent per page for black and white printing and less than five cents per page in color.

The touchscreen on the printers let you control all of the printer’s functions.

Both printers also come with Wi-Fi Direct technology, which means you don’t even need a router (it just connects directly to other Wi-Fi-connected electronics.
