What is the Rowkin Mini?

The Rowkin Mini is a tiny wireless Bluetooth headphone and microphone combo that comes in a portable charging case. The device was recently launched online at Amazon at a price of $50.

The makers of the Rowkin Mini are advertising the device as a sporty in-ear earbud headset. It comes with a noise-canceling microphone that allows for easy hand-free calling. You can also listen to music and calls through the in-ear earbuds.

Unlike most earbuds, the Rowkin Mini only comes with one earbud. You don’t get a set of two earbuds. The system is completely wireless and relies on Bluetooth. So there’s no wire dangling from your ear while you’re running, working out, or just sitting at home or the office.

Keep reading to discover the Rowkin Mini’s features.

Rowkin Mini Features

The Rowkin Mini comes with all of the following features:

-Bluetooth 4.1 that allows for easy connection to most modern smartphones

-CVC 6.0 digital noise reduction technology that promises to intelligently filter out ambient noise while providing clearer sound during calls and while listening to music

-Miniscule microphone that fits perfectly into your ear and lets you take calls on the go

-Single button on the wireless earbud that lets you change music, answer or reject a call, dial the last number, or play and pause your music

-Multipoint connectivity that allows you to pair the Rowkin Mini with two Bluetooth source devices at the same time. You can connect your headphone to your iPhone or Android phone, for example, while still being connected to your iPad, tablet, or laptop at the same time. If you want to listen to music from your tablet while still being able to answer calls on your phone, then you can do that with the Rowkin Mini.

-Portable charging that uses a conductive portable charging system. Basically, you get a separate case that holds the Rowkin Mini and recharges up to 5 times on a single charge. The Rowkin Mini itself has a music and talk time of about 60 minutes. Meanwhile, the small, lipstick-sized charger can easily fit in your purse or pocket.

The earbud itself is smaller than a penny. It’s the same size as most normal earbuds you use to listen to music from your phone. However, keep in mind that there’s a lot of technology crammed into the little earbud, including wireless connectivity, a Bluetooth adapter, and a microphone. Given that, the Rowkin Mini is surprisingly small.

The Mini’s charger is also remarkably unique. It works using magnets found inside the lipstick-sized portable charger. Those magnets hold the earbud to give it extra battery life. You’ll need to charge the charger after every 6 charges. There’s a micro-USB port to let you do that.

Rowkin Mini Pricing

The Rowkin Mini is available exclusively from Amazon, where it’s priced at the following rates for the three different design materials:

  • Silver: $49.99
  • Space Gray: $49.99
  • 24K Gold-Plated Edition: $59.99

The company claims this pricing is part of an exclusive 50% launch discount. That 50% discount was still active at the time of writing, and it’s unclear if it’s going to go away any time soon.

You can also save 20% off the total cost of your order when you purchase 2 or more Rowkin Mini earbuds.

You can also sign up for Rowkin’s email newsletter to receive an additional 5% off your order (you’ll receive a discount code to use on Amazon).

What Do Users Have to Say About the Rowkin Mini?

The Rowkin Mini is generally well-reviewed on Amazon, where it has an average rating of 3 stars out of 5. The reviews are typically 5 stars (26% of all reviews) or 1 star (29% of all reviews).

The 1 star reviews all make a similar complaint: the device has connectivity issues:

“I like the design of it but if the source device is more than 2ft from the headphone it cuts out. I.e. if you have your phone in your pocket it stops working. I've tried with multiple devices through multiple charges. What's the point of a wireless device if it has to be practically touching in order to function?”

That reviewer gave the device one star.

Other negative reviews complained about poor sound quality, low volume, and poor battery life. Some people also claimed that the person they called could hardly hear them speaking.

Meanwhile, the 5 star reviews pretty much say the opposite of all those things: those reviews claim the device works as advertised with no connection problems, strong battery life, and clear voice connection.

“First off, the sound quality is truly impressive, especially for a device that's so incredibly small, and it gets plenty loud enough to hear clearly over the clothes dryer or running water and clanking dishes with the dog barking in the background.”

That reviewer gave it 4 stars out of 5, with the one complaint being about poor Bluetooth connectivity when your phone and earbud are not within sight of each other.

Ultimately, most Bluetooth devices have trouble if there are obstructions between you and the Bluetooth receiver. The Rowkin Mini appears to have the same problem.

Who Makes The Rowkin Mini?

The Rowkin Mini is made by a company named Rowkin. That company claims to be dedicated to “finding tech that fits in with your lifestyle and will take you to the next level.”

You can contact the company at [email protected].

Rowkin launched its Mini in late 2015.

Ultimately, the Rowkin Mini is an earbud that promises to provide high-quality music playback and calling through the convenience of a wireless earbud. It’s available online through Amazon for $50, where it’s generally well-reviewed (although many users have complained they have connectivity problems while using the device if their phone is in their pocket).
